I grew up in the city of Whittier CA til I was about 15 and now live in the Inland Empire. I have been into the Latin Rap scene since it first started in the early 90's. I didn't start promoting it til 04 when ODM from Lighter Shade Of Brown asked me if I'd promote a CD he had coming out at the time titled "Shut Yo!" So I did as I was asked to do, and I got the word out. I then knew that it was something I could do for other artists so I started contacting other rappers. I have promoted for rappers such as Slow Pain, Wicked Minds, Cuete, Lil Blacky just to name a few. I got into promoting because I noticed that it clearly wasn't getting the recognition that it deserved, and if I could help get the word out about what these artists were going through and putting into their music...than that's what I wanted to do. A lot of people don't realize that music is an escape from the lifestyles that these rappers have grown up in. If people would just sit down and listen to the lyrics, they would be able to see what these artists have gone through in their lives to try to get out of the situations that they are in. Music is a positive escape out of a lifestyle of crime and gang banging in their neighborhoods. Just because of what a person looks like on the outside with tattoos and scars they assume that they are a bad person. Every tattoo and every scar has a story behind it. But the most important thing that people seem to over look is that these people are still here and they are trying to better themselves by turning their bad experiences into lyrics for the youth of this generation to listen to so that they don't have to go through the same thing that these rapper's went through. Now I know that not all rappers are like that, but more are than not, and that is what got me into promoting as I do. If I could help spread the word about artists that are trying to make a difference through their music to help youngsters of this generation not go through what these artists have gone through than its all worth it in the end. I have recently started working for Paula Casas, CEO of Latin Nation Entertainment based out of San Diego. So if you're looking for any type of management or guidance in your career, feel free to contact me and I will make sure I will get you in touch with her so that she can lead you in the right direction. Due to me working with her now, I really don't do my own promoting like I used to, but if you're looking for an interview I can get you in contact with someone who will be willing to interview you and get your name out there to the public. I do however still post up flyer's for concert events so if you have any flyer's that you'd like posted on this site, feel free to email it to me.
Here is something that I wrote in July of 07' it's my thoughts on how the industry is right now and how people really need to support these artists instead of stealing from them by downloading their music off the Internet. Please take the time to read it, because there is a lot of truth in what I have written and have been told so by so many artists that have already read it, and feel free to send me your feedback on it also by either emailing me or adding me as a friend on one of the many social networking sites that I am apart of. Which you can find in the Contact section.
I realized yesterday that I have been promoting in this industry for 3 years now. Never have I asked for a dime from what I do. I needed my passion for this industry to be shown and proven to be the only main priority and also because I strongly believe that a lot of people only get into this business because they think that it's an easy way to make money. Which is why there are so many rappers out there that consider wack. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do, but seriously a lot of people now a days think that just because they have the ability to pick up a mic, that they are automatically a rapper. If you don't have a desire for the music and are just in it for the money, trust me it shows!!!!!! Just wanted to share this with all of you who are taking the time to read this cause it's been on my mind for a while now. Since I go to forums and guestbooks on the net and read about how so many people think that the rappers now a days are wack and it's our own people talking about it. If we can't support our own than what's really the point? The really hard working rappers need to be shown that they are appreciated for being in the studio at 3 - 4 the morning. After all, its you the fans that they are doing it for. They don't have concerts and autograph signings for themselves. There needs to be more people going out there and buying Cd's instead of just downloading them from the Internet. If we don't support our own trust me no one else will either. Trust me, you will remember reading this later when all the major stores are all closed because they weren't making enough money and you all have to go literally searching for your favorite Cd's that you once had a store near you. But because you didn't feel like going out and buying it and supporting like you know you should have, they won't be available anymore. More and more artists are suffering because of this.
